What to expect from Soul Focus as your wedding photographer

Hello! I'm Sarah, your dedicated wedding and event photographer, and I am thrilled to embark on this beautiful journey with you. As a storyteller who loves capturing those special moments, my aim is to create timeless and genuine images that truly reflect the unique essence of your big day.

It is very important to me that you feel relaxed and happy from the time of booking all the way through to receiving your final products, so I wanted to take some time out to take you through the general process of booking me to the final product and beyond.

Why Soul Focus?

Clients often value my discreet and documentary approach to photography, which is different from the usual posed style often associated with weddings. If your preference leans towards extended sessions of formal, posed shots post-ceremony, I may not be the photographer for you. However, if you're seeking a touch of uniqueness and enjoy the prospect of a brief escapade for some nearby, lighthearted shots right after the ceremony, then we're likely on the same page! The rest of the day I shoot candidly in the background capturing your beautiful day as it unfolds.

I make it a point to incorporate at least an hour or two in capturing the exciting moments of the couples wedding preparations or 'getting ready'. This timeframe not only allows me to document the significant moments of when friends and family assist in getting ready, but it also enables me to get to know you and the wedding party better so that you feel more relaxed in front of the camera (people forget I’m there after a while!) This sense of comfort enables me to naturally capture your true essence throughout the day, resulting in photos that really tell your story!

Lets connect!

After you are in contact with your event date and basic information via the contact form on the website, I will organise a phone/zoom call between us at a time of your convenience. This serves as a friendly meet and greet, and also a first chat about what you are after for your day. We will have a high-level discussion about your event, talk about your plans so far and what vendors you have already selected.

It’s a great time for everyone to ask lots of questions and to get to know each other. It is also an ideal time for both parties to get a feel for whether we are the right fit for each other. I know the photographer can be one of the most important choices you will make for your big day.

Booking Soul Focus

After the initial meet and greet, a curated quote based from our discussion will be created and sent to you. This will include all details so that there are no surprises for you and everyone is comfortable.

If you are happy with the quote and ready to confirm the booking, a booking form and photography contract will be sent to you electronically. Once these are filled in, signed and sent back, your event date will be pencilled in for you. Soul Focus requires a 50 % deposit to confirm all booking dates and this will be required within 5 business days of signing the contract.

Booking an engagement shoot offers a wonderful opportunity to ease into the experience of being photographed. Set in a laid-back environment devoid of any pressure, this session aims to give you comfort and familiarity with me as your photographer. I also enjoy finding out what holds significance for both of you in the vision you have for your upcoming wedding.

Booking confirmed

When the above is done and the booking confirmed via confirmation email, a fun questionnaire will be sent to you so that I can ensure I have all of the information I need to capture your day perfectly!

At this stage we will start to develop a more comprehensive timeline for your wedding.

Before the big day

A month before the event, I will send through your final invoice and organise to catch up with you for a coffee or over Zoom/Teams so that the finer details such as the timing and agenda of the event can be discussed together.

A week before the wedding, I will head out to the location of your event to look at various aspects of the shoot, such as the lighting at that time of day, weather forecasts and best spots for the 'on location' photography. It is best to do this close to the event as the weather and lighting will be similar on the actual day.

On the day!

Can you believe it's finally here! I will be with you roughly one or two hours before you need to leave for the ceremony to capture all the magical moments that will make up your beautiful day.

Most of the day you won’t even know I’m there as I will be candidly photographing your day as it unfolds. All the posed photos after the ceremony that need a little bit of direction will be done in a relaxed and fun way that will have you laughing and full of joy! After that I will keep a close eye on the schedule and will be as flexible as possible. If parts of the day run over, which they often do, I will stick around, so there is no need to spend any time worrying about that!

Sneak Peek

Depending on the package or agreement in place, some sneak peek photos will be sent to you - usually about 72 hours after the wedding. Perfect for sending out on your socials!

Two to four weeks after the wedding

All your beautiful photos will be delivered to you for you to share with your friends and family, as well as any extra products you have requested.

I will send a follow-up email requesting feedback and a testimonial/review. If you could provide one, it will help me to continue improving the service I provide to my couples and will be greatly appreciated.

Is that the end?

I hope not! It will be the end of our wedding photography journey together, but not the end of our friendship or photography journey.
